My van life journey started with a Ford that I built out myself & had it for a year, living in it part-time and trying to manage travel, apartment, school, and work all at the same time. Then, we finished school, got rid of the apartment, quit our job, and moved into this van full-time. My two cats and I traveled in it for a year until we found a perfect place to settle and open up an art studio/gallery. This is what I do now full-time: I make sculptures, furniture, and functional objects out of clay and wood. Q.What flexibility is available for picking up and dropping off the RV?
A.
Very flexible. Time frame 9am-9pm.
Q.How do the electric, water and sewage hook up work while setting up at the campground?
A.
Van has an electric 15v and 30v hookups (located outside in the back of the van on the driver's side) which you plug into the outlet once at a campground. Sewer and water hoses are in a black bag attached to the rear left door, & can be used whenever needed.
Q.Are there any special tricks and tips that would help with operating the RV easily?
A.
Making sure all the things are put away, the fan and side windows are closed -- is always a good idea. Remembering that it's a Mercedes bus, not a Mercedes sedan :) so, the right lane on the highway is absolutely a good friend of ours.
Q.Water tank & Grey water tank sizes?
A.
Fresh water tank is 40 gallons. Grey water tank is 20 gallons.
On the water meter you would see how much water you have. I recommend getting 3/4 of fresh water, considering that 1/4 would go into your coffees/teas/outdoor shower and 2/4 (or half) would go into a grey water tank (which should be about 20 gallons). If the grey water tank is overflowing, the water will start dripping from the outside, time to find the closest dump station or a car wash!
