    Meet your host, Tarek

We purchased and designed this campervan with the idea that our family of four would get to use it to enjoy the many beautiful spots Hawaii has to offer. When we are not using it, we rent it on Outdoorsy.

Have a question?Get answers directly from the host

Q.CRITICAL - What type of fuel does the van take and where is the inlet to the diesel tank?
    A.
The van ONLY takes diesel fuel. Anything else will result in complete engine failure and will be the responsibility of the guest. The inlet to the diesel tank can be found on the side panel when the driver's door is open.

Q.How does the portable toilet work?
    A.
There are public restaurants all over the island so please use the portable toilet in case of emergency. 1) Depress flush pump to add water to the bowl 2) After use, pull side valve handle out 3) Depress flush pump again to rinse bowl 4) Close slide valve by pushing in fully 5) Please clean the toilet before the end of your trip

    Q.Where can't I go in the van?
    A.
This is a 2WD vehicle so you need to stay on main roads (no off-roading) and the following areas are prohibited because they require 4WD: the top of Mauna Kea (driving to the visitor center is fine), Kekaha Kai State Beach (Makalawena Beach), Green Sands Beach, Waipio Valley. The van has a GPS tracker. I will be notified if you go to any of these areas and you may be charged $1k plus any damage to the vehicle.

Q.How does the hot water heater work?
    A.
    1) Complete this when you run out of hot water 2) Turn on car 3) Turn on the water pump otherwise the hot water heater will burn. The switch is found on the back of the van to your left when you are looking inside the van. 4) The switch is to the right of the stove, against the wall. A bright red light shows when it's on. 5) Hot water switch should be turned OFF within 30 minutes. The heated water will last 2-3 days. 6) Turn OFF the water pump.
