Located in Kona on the beautiful island of Hawaii (The Big Island), Coconuts is Campervan Hawaii’s coolest and most comfortable campervan to explore this island with. While it only seats and sleeps 2, it is custom built for Hawaii and features a super comfy 12” thick King size mattress, a hideaway toilet, an outdoor shower, a full kitchen with a sink, a 2 burner induction cooktop, and a big fridge and freezer. It has tons of battery storage to power many 120VAC and 12V USB outlets as well as an efficient A/C system which can keep you cool and comfortable all night long. It features great local artwork from Colin Redican, has a great sound system that has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and has color changing LED accent lights on the interior as well as on the exterior awning allowing you to set the right mood day or night.Arriving:
Our standard check-in time is 3:00PM. If available, you may be able to checkin sooner for an additional fee of $10/hr should you want your campervan earlier than 3:00PM. Let us know if you would like early check-in and we will try and accommodate you but it is not guaranteed. We are located at 73-4195 Hulikoa Dr which is around 4 miles south of the Kona airport. The best way of getting there is by using a rideshare like Uber or Lyft and alternatively there are taxis but they tend to be more expensive. Once there, we will go over the campervan with you, teach you how to use it, answer any questions you might have and will get you on the road.
Camping:
Camping on the Big Island does require you to have a campsite for each night as there is no free camping. Check out the camping page on our website for more information and we will also provide you with our camping and itinerary guide once you book which shows you our recommended spots and how to book them.

"We started renting campervans out of our love for being on the road and sleeping in a different spot every night and are excited to share our favorite way to travel with other outdoor and van life enthusiasts. We’ve been exploring the mainland by van for over 20 years and love the freedom it provides. After our last extended vacation in our mainland home-on-wheels we realized it would be a great way to explore these island gems of Hawai'i! When home is where you park it, there are more hours to play the day away!"

We had a great time on the Big Island on Coconuts campervan. The original van that we had rented broke-down 24 hours before we were going to pick it up. Campervan Hawaii was able to replace the van with a similar one and offer a discount for the switch. The new van -Coconuts- was really nice and very comfortable. It is very well equipped. It has a refrigerator and freezer that work really well. We were able to keep keep fish and drinks very cold. The kitchen had everything that we need it to cook. in 8 days we ate out twice.
There were many details that made the experience easy; like having a 3 gallon drinking water jag, headlamp, rechargeable fans, electric kettle and french press. The battery system kept the lights on the stove and fridge working with no issues.
We would definitely rent from campervan Hawaii again; they were very nice and easy to work with and the Van and equipment were a complete experience.
Thanks for making our trip so enjoyable close to nature.

The van is infested with roaches and not just small ones, these roaches are huge! They also will jump at your face and try to bite you if they are cornered or threatened. This happened to my friend when he was trying to kill the biggest one. Terrifying is an understatement. They seemed to get super active at night and were literally everywhere. We killed at least 10 in a matter of 10 mins. No way was I gonna sleep in this van so we had to book hotel for entire stay and change our plans and itinerary completely. Host was great about refunding our money and allowing us the keep the van for something to still drive around since we were already on Hilo side of the island. Just wish we would have been told about these bugs prior to booking or picking up the van.

Great experience with the campervan. It had everything we needed to be self sufficient. The team were responsive when we needed them. So good!

The Campervan was exactly as described and absolutely perfect! It drove well and was well-maintained. The bed was very comfortable, the AC worked great, the curtains provided privacy, and the outdoor shower provided warm shower at the end of the day. The extra touches didn’t go unnoticed…such as the headlamps and extra flashlights, clothesline, camp chairs, and electric fans - all of which got used. There were plenty of outlets for charging devices. Great for a solo traveler or couple. The electric tea pot, stove, and refrigerator all worked great.
