-Kettle and French PressRecommendationsCarlsbad is only a stones throw away from a plethora of state parks, which include beaches, deserts, mountains, or forested areas. There is nothing like waking up the sound of the waves and feeling that ocean breeze first thing in the morning, or enjoying s'mores under the stars in the desert. Feel free to ask us about any recommendations on where to go, we'd be happy to tailor our suggestions around what you're in the mood for!Other things to noteWhile we encourage you to go explore places you have yet to go, we always want to make sure that both you and the van are safe. The Coastal Cruiser Van is a 2WD vehicle. Please stick to maintained roads, such as gravel, packed dirt or fire roads. Please DO NOT take Coastal Cruiser where there is rugged terrain, and where 4x4 vehicles are recommended or required. We want you to enjoy your adventure and not spend it digging yourself out of ruts and coming back to hefty repair bills! Any evidence of harsh trail riding, rock crawling, or water wading will result in a forfeit of deposit and compensation for any damage done. Please use the stove outdoors as much as you can. We only want an open flame in the van if weather does not permit for outdoor cooking.Pets are welcome. We love furry friends! We do charge an additional $25 per pet, per day. Please note that renters who do not mention bringing a dog or cat will be charged $175 if we find evidence that an animal has been in the van.The van must be returned with a clean toilet. Loved the van! My son and I had an amazing time in the locals mountains. The van was clean, comfortable, and fun, and we would absolutely rent this van again. So many great memories!

I had a great time driving Hannahs and Jens Van. The rental was very uncomplicated and the pick up location is easily reachable even from San Diego by the Coaster train (40 min, 6.5 $). Even pick up and return time was flexible arrangeable, which made my logistics much easier.
The Van itself is rougher than it seems on the pictures, so you should not expect super luxury as in a mobile home. Its used and its basic but has everything you need for a remote stay off the grids. Its definitely an advantage to have done some van life before and know how to organize things, especially if you want to stand free and not use a campsite every night.
Its important to know that the isolation is not great, so it can get quite cold in the van during colder winter nights (i used in November). Luckily they provided a heating blanket, which i really needed (AC is running during use for some reason). But be prepared that the insight temperature will be pretty close to what you have outside.
The Van has all utensils needed to prepare proper meals and i cooked dinner on the propane stove every night. Also the solar panel on the roof and the connected battery is great for charging phones, cameras and the reading light on the road. I was completely independent of any outside power source with this.
Dont be mislead by the light switch you see in the photos. It is a decoration item ( dont really know why) and the van doesnt have lightning installed. The light thats available comes from the reading light above the bed and a little solar chargeable light. Its enough for the evening but dont expect great lightning of the whole van.
I personally would have liked to have proper storage space for my personal belongings in the van (not just in the drunk under the bed, which is only accessible from the outside). Its possible to place items on the ground next to the chiller box (it needs to be filled with ice, not a fridge) but there is nothing to fix it with during driving so they tend to move around. If this would be my own van i would build some cabinets and attach some nets under the roof for storage.

I absolutely loved renting this van! I was able to spend the weekend with my best friend and our pups. Jennifer and Hannah were so kind and made sure their van was clean and ready for us to use. They were flexible to make the times for pick up and drop off for the van work best for my schedule. They were so accommodating and I really appreciate how they had everything packed in the van ready for use so I really did not need to pack anything with me as they even had camp chairs to use. I would highly recommend staying in this van and would love to rent this van again!

Hannah and Jen were absolutely wonderful to rent from, they are communicative and friendly. We had the most magical time renting their sweet Coastal Cruiser. It offers everything you need for any type of adventure, we will definitely be renting from them again and are inspired to convert our own now!

Owners were fantastic and so easy to work with. I booked a very last minute trip after getting an oceanfront campsite on short notice and they were very accommodating for me. Thanks for making my trip so easy!
