The quaint settlement of Forrest City, Arkansas was founded in the 1860s by Confederate General Nathaniel Bedford Forrest. Like many small cities around the U.S., General Forrest was contracted by the local railway company in nearby Memphis and Little Rock to build a railway line through the area known as Crowley's Ridge. Once finished, the city became a center for agriculture due to fertile farming lands and the city's population flourished from there.
