About The Vintage RV Rental

We love vintage Toyota, Chinook, Sunrader and other Vintage RVs. We are trying to save and restore a culture of campers. Our RVs are reliable and well maintained. Ed had done a "wheel to wheel" upgrade on all our vehicles. Each camper is totally different and we attempt to keep the original owners idea in mind. We have four current rentals: Troutmobile, The Nook, Time Traveler and The Gazelle. Also working on Mighty Oak which will be a 4x4 conversion with a 2.4L turbo diesel engine and Patina Cruiser 4x4 build equipped with over-landing gear. Visit our website or instagram for more pictures and adventures.

Our trip with the '77 Toyota Chinook was absolutely amazing. We can’t even put into words how much we loved this RV. Exploring the stunning landscapes of Montana and Wyoming in this vintage beauty made the whole experience one we’ll hold onto for the rest of our lives.Whether we were tucked in for the night at a campsite or parked under the stars, it felt like something straight out of a movie. The bed is super comfy and sets up in just a few minutes, so it was easy to wind down after a day of adventure. Plus, the Chinook has everything you need to cook and make the most of the trip. One of the best parts is how easily it fits anywhere—you never have to stress about finding a parking spot. But honestly, the highlight was cruising along and soaking in the old-school vibes. We’re already itching to book this awesome experience again!

We had an awesome time in the Troutmobile. My wife and I drove it to Yellowstone and Grand Teton over the course of 5 days. The Troutmobile was the perfect size--enough room inside to chill and sleep, but small enough to fit in regular car-sized parking spaces in crowded Yellowstone parking areas. Driving an older vehicle took some getting used to, but once I got the hang of the different handling and pedals, it was fun to drive. For a small vehicle, it was packed with a surprising array of stuff--chairs, cookware, dishes, kitchen items, etc. Packing up and hitting the road each morning was a snap.We did have a minor mechanical issue and The Vintage was very responsive and quick to help sort it out. Great hosts! I would 100% rent the Troutmobile again--hopefully in a year or so and take it to Glacier!

TheVintage knows their vehicles and the area surrounding their home of Western MT very well and they want you to get the absolute most out of both for your trip. They run you through the important quirks and how-tos of the vehicle upon pickup so there is no worry or confusion when you're driving or setting up camp somewhere with no service; and if you do need them, their response time is fantastic. We told them our plans and mapped a rough route and they provided us with a bunch of excellent suggestions for routes and stops that we hadn't heard of or would have thought of - we'd never heard of the Sawtooths before, but they were spectacular and one of the many worthwhile additions to our trip we made at their suggestion. This thing puts a smile on the faces of everyone who sees it, so do be prepared to have people stop you and ask about it everywhere you go - you'll be sure to have some interesting interactions and hear some wild stories. If you've clicked this listing and checked reviews looking for validation that this is the vehicle you want to spend your vacation in, look no further.

We loved our trip in the Chinook! The pop top was really good for being able to stand inside and gave plenty of headroom above the bed. There’s ample storage for a week-long trip. We toured through the Yellowstone area for five days/four nights comfortably! The 70’s camper really gives you a neat feel, as if visiting the park decades ago. This camper is great for an adventurous couple, more minimalist than a fancy Sprinter, etc. but a really fun vehicle! The owners were super responsive and can help troubleshoot if anything comes up.

Clean, perfectly vintage. Made it over Mt Hood in very hot weather with no problems at all. The owner was very responsive!

We had a blast roaming southwest Montana, fishing and camping in this classic RV. The trout mobile did not let us down.
