We enjoyed our trip with the RV very much and had a great time. However, there were several things that we were very disappointed about. First of all, the communication with the host was sometimes difficult. I would not get an answer for a few days or I receive an answer but it was incomplete or did not answer all my questions.Furthermore, the host was not there when we picked up the RV. A neighbor handed us the keys but did not do a tour around the camper. We had to inspect the rig by ourselves and found the following:1. The display of the greywater tank and black water tank did not show the correct status (always showed 1/3 oder 2/3 full)2. The awning was missing completely (cut off) even though the caravan was advertised with awnings.3. The window blinds in the rear left and front alcove were broken and could not be opened.4. The dining table did not lock properly and was very wobbly. It was hard to eat properly at the shaky table, especially with two kids.5. The brake light on the back left was defective during inspection. As this is a safety issue, we fixed it on the spot and could make it work. It is fair to say the RV was not road safe when we picked it up due to the broken light.6. There were 2 camping chairs and no camping table in the RV even though it sleeps 7 people and the listing said "fully equipped". Also, there is a microwave but not a single "microwave safe" plate or bowl.If the host was there at the pickup, we would not have accepted the RV in this condition. Unfortunately the neighbor could not tell us a lot about it. Until then, I did not even have a phone number of the host (their neighbor gave it to me). Also, the locks of the storage compartment were in a bad condition and hard to open. I even broke the key trying to open a lock and was luckily able to make a new one at a walmart store. We also took care of the locks and cleaned them thoroughly with WD-40; after that, they worked like a charm. Things like these made the RV seem to be badly taken care of. We knew it was 20 years old when we booked it, but an RV can still be expected to work and run fine, especially when renting for more than USD 1200 per week. The host apologised about the drawbacks and promised me a refund a week into the rental period. We never discussed the exact amount though, and when I asked about the refund again 6 days after returning the rig, I got a refund from outdoorsy which was only about 6% of the price we paid. These were the very disappointing things. On the positive side, I can mention the following:- The engine was reliable and we never had any issues
- The generator was reliable and ran fine. It's a bit noisy but that is absolutely normal for 20 yrs of age
- The RV was very clean when we picked it up. It seems like the host is commited to deliver a clean rig. Also the dishes and silverware were clean.
- The RV has the most important things you need for dispersed camping and the kitchen is equipped with enough pans, pots etc.
- The bed in the back is very comfortable as it seemed to be made of some kind of memory foam. We all slept very well at all times.
- Plenty of space in the RV (we are a family of four)All in all we had a great trip but the RV was disappointing due to the mentioned issues. At this rental price we expected an old vehicle, but one that is well maintained. The communication with the host and the little amount of the refund for these major drawbacks did not improve our overall experience.
